At Kobo Shizukan, craftsmen are doing their daily work.
The craftsmen have their own workshops where they carry out processes such as wood grinding, urushi lacquering, and maki-e (gold-relief lacquering),
Visitors can observe the work of these craftsmen through a glass window.
Since each process of Yamanaka lacquerware is based on the division of labor, it is very rare to find a workshop where all the craftsmen of wood, urushi-lacquer, and maki-e (maki-e) are gathered.
We would be happy if you could feel the Yamanaka lacquerware techniques that have been handed down for over 400 years close at hand.
